The Surselva Region

Two hours from St. Gallen and Zurich in the northwest of Graubünden are the winter sports regions of Breil/ Brigels and Obersaxen with their internationally awarded ski areas, the Trun cross-country skiing center and the Safiental winter idyll. Right in the middle you will find Illanz, well connected to all winter sports offers via public transport. The first city on the Rhine is home to shopping opportunities and its beautiful old town, offering a popular addition in contrast to the mountains, sun and winter sports experiences.

The Obersaxen Community

Located in the open mountain landscape of the Surselva region, Obersaxen is a real insider tip where you can spend wonderful holidays. In winter, prepped slopes invite you to go skiing and sledding, while in summer extended hiking trails with fantastic views provide the ideal balance. By the way, in good conditions the views extend from Piz Mundaun all the way to Chur. Characteristic for the Obersaxen Mundaun region are the small, scattered hamlets in which both German and Romanesque are spoken.

The Alpenlodge Val Gronda

The Alpenlodge Val Gronda is located on a high plateau at around 1350 meters above sea level in the hamlet of Tschappina in Obersaxen. It belongs to the merged community of Obersaxen Mundaun in the Surselva region. In just 5 minutes by car you will reach the village of Meierhof, where the supermarket, bank, bakery, little cafes and restaurants as well as the postal office are located. The valley town of Illanz can be reached via car or bus within 15 minutes. From there you will find a connection to nearby ski areas such as Flims Laax Falera or Andermatt Sedrun Disentis.
