The Alpenlodge Val Gronda is located about 45 minutes from Chur and can be reached from there via the A3/ A13 via Flims to Illanz or via Bonaduz on the old road along the Rhine Gorge. Coming from the west you can find us via the Oberalp Pass (pass closed in winter – limited car loading options from Andermatt to Sedrun), or from the south via the Lukmanier Pass via Disentis. Since there are tolls on Swiss motorways, do not forget to buy a vignette in advance. You can find them at various rest stops around the border crossings.
Please note that snow chains may occasionally be required in winter due to heavy snow fall.
You can park your car on the hotel parking lot (selectively covered).
Guests arriving by public transport can reach us via Chur with the Rhaetian Railway or via Andermatt with the Matterhorn Gotthard Railway to Illanz station. Postbuses run regularly from Illanz to Obersaxen, Flond, Surcuolm or Val Lumnezia. Alternatively, you can also cover the distance by taxi (cost starting at 60 CHF – no guarantee). We recommend booking a car in advance, as there is no taxi stop at the train station itself.
The closest airport is in Zurich. The easiest way to travel from there is to take the ICE to Chur and from there the Rhaetian Railway to Illanz. From there you will be able to use all the above mentioned means of transport. The journey from Zurich to Illanz will take about 2 hours (depending on connections).
